Bible Reading
"Romans 8:32 — 'He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?'"
Key Scripture
"He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" (Romans 8:32)
Reflection
The word spare in Greek is φείδομαι (pheidomai): to avoid, to bargain, to be sparing. Its synonyms are stingy, limited, haggling. But God is none of those things.
Romans 8:32 presents a Father who was willing to do everything. He gave the most valuable thing in heaven — His own Son — for you. He didn't negotiate, He didn't look for cheap alternatives, He didn't spare.
The word abundantly in Greek is πλουσίως (plousios): extremely generous (Titus 3:5-7). The Bible is full of verses about how God gives, blesses, and enriches beyond measure.
In the parable of Luke 15, the father of the two sons gave the inheritance without any obligation, he received the prodigal son without any reproach, he gave him new clothes, a ring, sandals, killed the fattened calf, and threw a party. That is how God is: an extravagantly generous Father.
But the older son — the one who lived in the house — thought his father was stingy: "All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends." The father replied: "My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours" (Luke 15:31).
Do you identify with the older son? Many live in the Father's house but are bitter, without knowing His abundance. You do not have because you do not ask, because you distrust God, because you think He is just like you (1 Corinthians 2:9).
God does not spare anything — He spends it all, although He is not limited, because He owns everything. His seed keeps bearing fruit. His word keeps working. God loves us without limits.
Prayer
Action of the Day
Today: Identify an area of your life where you have distrusted God's provision. Pray specifically for that, remembering Romans 8:32: if He did not spare His Son, how will He not also graciously give you all things? And seek to be generous with someone today — reflect the character of your Father.

Prayer of the day
"Heavenly Father, forgive me for seeing You as a stingy or limited God. You gave Your own Son for me. I don't want to live bitterly in Your house without knowing Your abundance. Open my eyes to see Your extravagant love. In Jesus' name. Amen."
