⚡ Isaac: From the Well to Freedom - Express Devotional
Bible Reading
"Genesis 26:22 — 'And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth...'"
📖 Key Scripture
Genesis 26:22 — "He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth..."
💭 Reflection
Let's be honest: sometimes we feel like we are repeating our parents' history. Isaac was an expert digger, but he also inherited Abraham's problems. Like us, we sometimes find ourselves "digging" into situations that only bring fighting and enmity.
Isaac opened the well of Quarrel (Esek) and then the well of Enmity (Sitnah). Sound familiar? How many times do we get stuck arguing, fighting to be right, wearing ourselves out with people who envy us?
But Isaac did something brave: He let go and moved forward.
He didn't stay and fight. He moved. And it was there, upon letting go of the conflict, that he found Rehoboth, his place of spaciousness and freedom. The lesson is clear and human: Sometimes, for God to prosper you, you have to be willing to lose an argument to win your peace.
🙏 Simple Prayer
Prayer of the day
"God, today I acknowledge that I have been fighting battles that are not mine to fight. I am tired of the contention. Today I choose to let go of that 'well' of conflict and move toward where You want to take me. Amen."
