🙏 Seeking God's Favor
Bible Reading
"Job 8:5-7 — 'But if you pray to God and seek the favor of the Almighty, if you are pure and live with integrity, he will surely rise up and restore your happy home. And though you started with little, you will end with much.'"
🌱 Introduction
I asked AI to find me 10 resolutions people make at the start of the year: exercise, eat healthy, save money, learn something new... None of these have anything to do with God.
Few or almost no one says: "my main goal this year will be to seek God's favor more." People live frustrated because their purpose is pure humanism, but devoid of spirituality.
Job 8:5-7 (NLT) — "But if you pray to God and seek the favor of the Almighty, if you are pure and live with integrity, he will surely rise up and restore your happy home. And though you started with little, you will end with much."
1️⃣ If You Pray and Seek God's Favor
This should generate enthusiasm and purpose. It is one hundred percent certain that whoever decides to seek God will do well.
There are people who have gone years without seeing change, because seeking God isn't just about attending church. A spiritual development plan is needed.
Matthew 6:33 — "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."
What is devotion?
- Deep love and enthusiasm for God
- A voluntary, not mandatory, practice
- Giving to the Lord unconditionally
2 Timothy 1:6 — "This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you."
Devotion takes God out of the optional and makes Him a priority. It's not "if I have time I'll seek God," but deciding to do it.
2️⃣ With God You Will Be Happy
The trendy disease is depression. People immerse themselves in pleasure, trips, and parties because they try to fill the void, but they are not happy.
Did you know that darkness does not exist? Darkness is the absence of light. Evil is the absence of God.
Psalm 34:4 — "I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears."
📱 Uncomfortable question: How much time do you spend on your phone vs. how many minutes with God? Some spend 3 hours on social media, and you didn't have 15 minutes for the Almighty?
🧠 Science Confirms Prayer
Andrew Newberg, a neuroscientist at the University of Pennsylvania, discovered that 12 minutes of daily prayer and meditation produce:
- ✅ 10-15% improvement in verbal memory
- ✅ Reduction of stress and anxiety
- ✅ Increased cerebral blood flow
- ✅ Strengthening of empathy
This is scientific evidence of Romans 12:2: "Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think."
3️⃣ He Who Walks in Integrity
You cannot say you seek God and not do what is right. The filter of integrity is needed.
Job 36:11 — "If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant."
4️⃣ The Result: Prosperity
"Though you started with little, you will end with much" (Job 8:7)
Joshua 1:8 — "Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do."
🙏 Prayer of the Day
💪 Concrete Action
This year, do this:
- 📖 Daily devotional: Read, meditate, pray (12 minutes minimum)
- 🙏 Do nothing without praying: Before every important decision
- ⏰ Audit your time: How many hours on the phone vs. minutes with God?
- ❤️ Live with integrity: Do the right thing even when no one is watching
What will be your #1 resolution this year?
Prayer of the day
"Heavenly Father, today I decide that my #1 resolution this year is to seek You. I fan the flame of my devotion. I don't want You to be my shelter in the storm, but my daily priority. Transform my mind, fill my home with happiness, and make me prosper in everything. In Jesus' name, Amen."
