The Spirit of God Who Teaches
Bible Reading
"Nehemiah 9:20"
Nehemiah 9:20 (NLT)
You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst.
🌱 Introduction
This verse reveals something extraordinary: God shares His intelligence, wisdom, and knowledge with man when he is willing to obey Him. The question that challenges our hearts today is:
What have you accomplished in your life that makes you say: "His Good Spirit guided me and taught me"?
💭 The Challenging Question
I am not just talking about academic or professional achievements, but moments where you clearly felt God equipped you to do something beyond your natural reach. Moments where His Spirit taught, guided, and equipped you.
The Bible is full of examples where God supernaturally equipped ordinary people to perform extraordinary works.
📖 When God Equips Man
1. Adam named the animals (Genesis 2:19)
God did not give Adam a list of names; He gave him the intellectual capacity to observe, discern, and classify. Imagine the level of wisdom needed to appropriately name thousands of species. James 1:17 reminds us: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above."
2. Noah built the ark (Genesis 6:11-16, 7:5)
Without naval engineering training, Noah built a gigantic vessel following divine instructions. For 120 years, with primitive tools (stone axes, no modern screws or nails), he built something that defied natural laws. The key? Genesis 7:5 - "And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him."
3. Bezalel and the Tabernacle (Exodus 25:1-9; 31:1-11)
Perhaps the clearest example of God's Spirit teaching:
"And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze." (Exodus 31:3-4)
Bezalel was no ordinary craftsman; he was filled with the Spirit of God with specific wisdom to design and build the tabernacle, the ark of the covenant, the golden lampstand, the altars, the priestly garments, the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense.
The principle is clear: When you make yourself available to God's purposes, He shares with you a wisdom that is superior to earthly wisdom.
4. Economic prosperity (Deuteronomy 28:11-14)
According to global studies, only 33% of the world's population is financially literate. This means 67% of people don't know how to manage their money well. In Latin America, the figure falls below 40%.
However, God promises in His Word: "The Lord will grant you plenty of goods... The Lord will open to you His good treasure... You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow." (Deuteronomy 28:11-12)
Joseph in Egypt received divine wisdom to manage the economy of an entire nation during a famine. When we honor God with our resources, He teaches us to prosper.
5. Advances in science and technology (2 Chronicles 26:5-15; Proverbs 9:10-12)
Science does not contradict God; it comes from Him. King Uzziah is an extraordinary example:
"As long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper... And he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and large stones." (2 Chronicles 26:5, 15)
Uzziah developed advanced military technology because he persisted in seeking God. He built towers, fortifications, cisterns for agriculture, and a well-equipped army. All because "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10).
✨ The Transforming Truth
James 1:17 declares: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights."
Proverbs 9:10-12 summarizes: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom... For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you."
When you fear God, honor Him, follow His Word, and submit to His purposes, He shares His wisdom with you.
🎯 The Challenge
Reflect today: In what area of your life do you need the wisdom and the Spirit of God that teaches?
- In your finances? (Only 33% of people are financially literate)
- In your ministry?
- In your career?
- In your family?
- In major decisions?
If God equipped Noah to build an ark with no experience, Bezalel to create sacred artworks, and Uzziah to develop technology, what can He not do with you if you fully surrender to Him?
🙏 Prayer
Heavenly Father, I recognize that all wisdom comes from You. Today I am ready to follow Your instructions like Noah, to seek Your face like Uzziah, and to be filled with Your Spirit like Bezalel. Teach me, equip me, and use me for Your glory. Give me wisdom in my finances, my work, my family, and in all areas of my life. That I may say: "His Good Spirit taught me". In the name of Jesus, amen.
💪 Concrete Action
This week, commit to:
- Seeking God in prayer before making important decisions
- Studying an area where you need wisdom (finances, leadership, etc.) and asking God to teach you
- Completely obeying a specific biblical instruction you've been putting off
Remember: When you make yourself available to God, He shares His wisdom with you.
Prayer of the day
"Heavenly Father, teach me as You taught Bezalel, guide me as You guided Noah, give me wisdom as You gave Joseph. I prepare my heart to obey You completely. May Your Good Spirit equip me to perform works that glorify Your name. Amen."
