Not One More Night With the Frogs

Base Text: Exodus 8:1-15

INTRODUCTION

There is a phrase that caught my attention when reading a book: "Why spend one more night with the frogs?" Immediately I set out to study what the book of Exodus says about the plague of frogs, one of the 10 plagues God used to punish Egypt and break Pharaoh's power.

Pharaoh's request was the most intriguing. What he asked for is strange, but it is the answer of many: "TOMORROW".

1. FALSE GODS CANNOT DELIVER YOU

a. Egypt and its many gods

Egypt had gods for everything. But God confronted them and showed them that He was the owner of everything. There is no idol that can defeat God.

b. The list of Egyptian gods

• Ra: The Sun God
• Heket: frog goddess of fertility

2. THE FROGS: A PLAGUE THAT INVADES EVERYTHING

Exodus 8:3 — "The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed..."

The frogs invaded everything. They represent the unclean, what is annoying, the sin that gets into intimacy (bedroom, bed, food).

3. THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: WHEN?

Exodus 8:9 — "Moses said to Pharaoh, 'I leave to you the honor of setting the time when I am to pray for you...'"

This is the most crucial part: When do you want to be free?

Exodus 8:10 — "'TOMORROW,' Pharaoh said."

TOMORROW? Who wants to spend one more night with frogs? Only someone who has become accustomed to the stench of sin.

CONCLUSION: DO NOT POSTPONE YOUR DELIVERANCE

Ecclesiastes 9:10 — "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."

Do not postpone your deliverance. The frogs of today will be the stench of tomorrow. Be free TODAY!
