SECRETS FOR A SUCCESSFUL YEAR II
Base Text: Deuteronomy 11:8
"Therefore you shall keep every commandment which I command you today, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land which you cross over to possess."
INTRODUCTION
How rich and abundant is the word of God. When I sit down to think about what word I have to give, my thoughts sometimes hit a wall, but upon reading I find how easy everything would be if we just did step by step what God says. How well we would do if our minds were open to God!
Rivers of wisdom flow, it is not hidden, nor a great mystery. It is just simple things we must do.
We spend our time thinking, devising, planning how we will make this 2026 a different year, how we will accumulate wealth, how we will buy a house, a car, or travel.
The matter is not like that. Every year brings the unknown, uncertainty, we do not know the future. But if we only listen to the voice of God, many things would become a reality.
1️⃣ THE FIRST THING TO CONSIDER: GOD CARES FOR YOUR LAND
Deuteronomy 11:11 — "But the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven."
The spiritual geography of your year
A new year, or every day, can represent the geography of the promised land. It is a land of mountains and valleys. Every day or month brings a mountain or will bring a valley.
But the text says that it is God who cares for the land:
Deuteronomy 11:12 — "A land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year."
📖 NLT Version: "It is a land the Lord your God cares for. He watches over it through each season of the year!"
No matter how difficult or easy, the matter is that it has to do with God.
The condition: Keep the Word
Deuteronomy 11:8 — "Therefore you shall keep every commandment which I command you today, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land."
If we do not keep the word, if we do not obey it, it is difficult for everything to turn out well.
The care belongs to God. There will be rain, also sun. The 365 days are cared for by God. Each one demands something different. But those who trust in Him have no reason to live in fear.
Abraham knew this secret
Abraham knew this very well. The secret is to trust in God, which will provide what is needed:
Genesis 22:14 (NLT) — "Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means 'the Lord will provide'). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: 'On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.'"
On the mountain of God is the secret. All of God's appearances in the desert took place on a mountain, a place of prayer.
There are people who live in scarcity, in debt, afflicted because they cannot trust in God. And their search is not of the mountain.
2️⃣ YOU MUST WORK AND SOW
Deuteronomy 11:11 — "But the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven."
Two action verbs
Two verbs stand out in this passage: «cross over» and «possess». Both are action verbs, and faith is action.
The new year demands activity and acquisition on our part. It is a year of conquests!
Instability, laziness, and discouragement cannot accompany us when entering the promised land. We have to cross over and we have to possess it.
We serve the God of mountains AND valleys
We are informed that "it is a land of hills and valleys". Changes will surround us continuously, it will not be a routine. We must conquer the heights, but we must cross the valleys.
1 Kings 20:28 — "Then a man of God came and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, 'Thus says the Lord: Because the Syrians have said, "The Lord is God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys," therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.'"
The valleys we will cross
- "The valley of the shadow of death" (Psalm 23:4)
- "The valley of vision" (Isaiah 22:5)
- "The valley of dry bones" (Ezekiel 37:1)
- "The valley of decision" (Joel 3:14)
We must SOW
Deuteronomy 11:14-15 — "Then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled."
In Egypt they had to work harder than normal, strength depended on themselves. In the land of God you will only have to serve Him and the fruit will be produced. But let me clarify: this does not mean you shouldn't sow.
Only that the seed will receive God's care. In Egypt they had to work hard to sow the seed and water the earth. But in the territory they are going to occupy, the rain waters the fields, the mountains, and the valleys.
God will water your seed. The question is: What are you sowing? What words do you speak over your life? How is your seedbed?
Proverbs 6:14-15 — "Perversity is in his heart, He devises evil continually, He sows discord. Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; Suddenly he shall be broken without remedy."
Matthew 13:37 — "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man."
2 Corinthians 9:6 — "He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully."
3️⃣ TURN AWAY FROM EVIL
Deuteronomy 11:16 — "Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them."
📖 NLT Version: "But be careful. Don't let your heart be deceived so that you turn away from the Lord and serve and worship other gods."
The fruit of evil
Do not expect good fruit to come by doing evil:
- Living in sin
- Sowing bad seed
- Watching garbage
- Doing what is displeasing
- Turning away from God
You will not have a successful year this way.
4️⃣ DO GOOD
Deuteronomy 11:18 — The things of God must be constantly in every place: in the heart, in the soul, on the body, on the road, in the house, on the gates. Not only the church is everywhere.
Believe God, do good and you will do well
Psalm 37:3-4 — "Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart."
Do not call evil good
Isaiah 5:20 — "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
The fruit does not cross. What you do is the result you will have.
CONCLUSION
6 things I have shared since December 31st. If we take a guide and write down what we must do:
- ✅ Trust that God cares for your land — The 365 days of the year are under His care
- ✅ Work and sow — Faith is action, crossing over and possessing
- ✅ Seek God on the mountain — Jehovah Jireh: God will provide
- ✅ Sow good seed — Whatever you sow, that you will reap
- ✅ Turn away from evil — Do not expect good fruit from bad seed
- ✅ Do good — Trust in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart
There will always be praise. The year 2026 will be one of victory and power. You will see your dreams in God fulfilled. Promises will be fulfilled.
